Chinto is thought to have been created by Sokon "Bushi" Matsumura (a body guard to three different Okinawan kings in the 1800s) following his instruction in Okinawa by a ship wrecked Chinese Martial Artist named Chinto. It should be noted that Matsumura was an instructor of Anko Itosu (the creator of the Pinan Series). The Kata is a record of fairly advanced fighting methods right from the very start of the Kata. This Kata was incorporated into Wado Ryu by Hinnori Otsuka on founding of Wado in 1934
