Pinan Godan is the fith kata in the Wado Syllabus, Godan meaning level four and "Pinan" being (more recently) translated as "Safe from harm) rather than the older translation peaceful mind. This kata again builds upon the previous four pinans, and includes, for the first time a jumping move. The original Pinan Series was develpoed by Anko Itosu in the 1890s and adopted into Wado Ryu by Otsuka Sensei on forming Wado Ryu in 1934.
